Shrimp And Broccoli Ingredients

To make this recipe, you will need vegetable oil, shrimp, broccoli, orange juice, soy sauce, honey, garlic, salt, black pepper, green onions, corn starch and sesame seeds.

How Do You Make Shrimp And Broccoli?

Start by heating some of the vegetable oil in a large pan on the stove. Place the broccoli in the pan, and cook until tender. Be sure to season the broccoli with salt and pepper. Remove the broccoli from the pan, and cover to keep warm. Add the rest of the oil, then arrange the shrimp in the pan. Once the shrimp are just starting to turn pink, add the garlic. In a medium bowl, stir together the soy sauce, orange juice and honey. In a separate smaller bowl, mix the corn starch with water. Return the broccoli to the pan. Pour the soy sauce mixture in with the shrimp and broccoli and let it simmer. Finally, add the corn starch mixture to the pan. When the sauce starts to thicken, the dish is ready to serve. Add some sesame seeds and green onions, then enjoy!

Tips For The Perfect Stir Fry

  • I prefer to use large shrimp in this recipe. I typically use the 21-25 count size, but you can go smaller if you like.
  • Be sure to purchase raw shrimp . If the shrimp is gray, it is raw. If it’s pink, it is pre-cooked. I don’t recommend using pre-cooked shrimp as they can get tough in the stir fry.
  • Feel free to use frozen broccoli instead of fresh, just be sure to thaw it first.
  • This dish is best with freshly squeezed orange juice .
  • Serve your stir fry alongside other Asian style dishes such as veggie fried rice , potstickers or crab rangoon .

Quick Tip

Leftovers will stay fresh in an airtight container for up to 2 days .

Shrimp and broccoli sauce contains soy sauce, garlic and cornstarch. It may also have other ingredients such as chicken broth, orange juice, ginger or chili garlic sauce.

Shrimp have a light and delicate flavor and texture. They tend to pair well with savory sauces such as stir fry sauce, basil pesto, chimichurri or garlic butter sauce. Shrimp are great with pasta or rice, and go well with many types of vegetables such as broccoli, bok choy, mushrooms and green beans.

This recipe is perfect as written, but it’s easy to switch up some of the ingredients to customize the flavors to your taste.

  • Protein: No shrimp on hand? This recipe also works well with scallops, flank steak, chicken breast or pork tenderloin.
  • Vegetables: Swap out the broccoli for cabbage, bok choy, mushrooms, bell peppers, green beans or asparagus. You can even do a combination of vegetables.
  • Sauce: Feel free to add more ingredients to your sauce such as orange zest, freshly grated ginger, sriracha or hoisin sauce.

Once you try this shrimp and broccoli stir fry, you’ll find yourself making it on a regular basis!
